What does “embracing discomfort” mean?

As T1Ds, we deal with discomfort every day of our lives. Changing infusion sites, sensors, giving injections, checking blood sugars, waking up in the middle of the night, doing Herculean mental calculations for our meals..

But what if this was all easier if we leaned into embracing discomfort?

Spoiler alert: it is. Listen in to find out why.

Wins & Fails

Colleen’s Win: My company did a step challenge back in June (we recorded this episode far in advance) and it got me walking more, and exercise mode has really helped with keeping my numbers stable. This was a prime example of embracing discomfort, since I had to change up my routines.

Jessie’s Fail: Feeling some overwhelm from finishing high school (when we recorded, she had a week left!).

Tip of the Week

Coming up with a mantra or an affirmation to repeat to yourself through the difficult times can really help with your mental health.
