Jessie started college! After taking a month off from recording, Jessie shares life lessons and overall excitement for this new chapter.
As Jessie learned, living on your own differs vastly from living in your parents’ house. She shares ups, downs, wins, and fails with her diabetes and general “adulting” skills in college.
I honestly wish I’d had her list of lessons learned when I started college. Jessie’s insight is valuable for anyone heading to Higher Ed in the next few years.
Wins & Fails
Colleen’s Win: I started putting my infusion sites more on my legs! Jessie inspired me to try new spots.
Jessie’s Fail: She’s been really busy lately and hasn’t sat for a breather during college (at least for this week!).
Tip of the Week
Get to events early, especially if you’re an introvert. We introverts know how hard it is to join existing groups of people talking when we arrive late to something, but if you arrive early then you can be part of those groups forming. And, if you get there early enough, you might offer to help the host with final setup and make a new friend.
Diabetes Spotlight
This week’s spotlight is just on having fun in college! Prioritize yourself, but remember, it’s okay to have fun.
Now It's Your Turn...
What is a major lesson you learned in college? Do you still consider those experiences today?
