Wondering about pump warranties? In this episode, we cover what they are, what you need to know, and what happens when they expire.
Are you one of those people who reads the warranty agreement, or are you like me (Colleen) in that you only pay attention when something breaks?
In this episode, Jessie and Colleen share some high-level information about the pump warranties for Tandem, Medtronic, and Omnipod.
For specifics on YOUR insulin pump, please check your paperwork or give your pump rep a call.
Wins & Fails
Colleen’s Win: Blood sugars have been pretty good the past few days, so I’m happy about that. Sometimes that’s the best thing to see if you’re having an otherwise weird week.
Jessie’s Fail: She’s starting to feel burned out, which is showing up with some forgetfulness.
Tip of the Week
The day you get your pump (if it’s new), put a reminder on your calendar for the end of the warranty period, no matter how far it is in the future. You can also put reminders for a few months ahead of the expiry date so you have time to call them if you need more information about what to do for renewing or getting a new pump.
Diabetes Spotlight
The spotlight this week is on the preliminary results from Vertex Pharmaceuticals’ stem cell therapy for type 1 diabetics. We’ve talked before on the podcast about Vertex, specifically that they’re one of the very few companies pursuing a cure for people who have lived with type 1 diabetes for many years.
Now It's Your Turn...
How much do you know about the warranty on your pump?
