Episode 52: Healthy Food Mindset, w/ Glenn Livingston

Today we’re talking with Dr. Glenn Livingston, a veteran psychologist who specializes in overeating and bingeing. Today we’re talking about his book, Never Binge Again, and how type 1 diabetics can use the principles in that book to develop a healthy food mindset.

"Disillusioned by what traditional psychology had to offer overweight and/or food obsessed individuals, Dr. Livingston spent several decades researching the nature of bingeing and overeating via work with his own patients AND a self-funded research program with more than 40,000 participants."

Please remember that Glenn is not a medical doctor. This is not medical advice. This is an overview of Glenn’s experience working with people to stop overeating and, as he calls it, think like a permanently thin person.

Wins & Fails

Colleen's Win: A quick win for me is that I only had to change my set twice and my sensor once while on vacation. I brought extra supplies just in case, but used less than I thought I’d have to for an 8-day road trip.

Colleen's Fail: My blood sugars were a little more unstable during my vacation because my sleep schedule was different, I was eating dinner with family instead of doing my usual intermittent fasting, and I snacked a lot while in the car instead of waiting for us to stop for meals. So, not a healthy food mindset for me on that trip!

Hack of the Week

Glenn Livingston’s book, Never Binge Again, is free on Amazon. Go ahead and give it a read and try his stop overeating method if that’s been a problem for you.

Review Shoutout!

This review was left on iTunes for us from "bbghij":

“I’m the parent of a child with Type 1, and I find this podcast so informative. They cover a great variety of topics that are extremely relevant to people with Type 1 and their families, and it helps to raise awareness about all the aspects of the disease that no one would know about it unless they or a loved one is affected by TID. It is inspiring listening to the hosts, who don’t let Type 1 hold them back. They also feature interesting guests with connections to Type 1.”

Thanks for the review!
