The cost of type 1 diabetes is not only financial, but emotional, physical, and mental. But what is the total cost of this disease?

We’re at a higher risk of mental health problems, we have a higher financial burden, and our emotions can get out of whack.

I did my best to find the costs on the financial supplies based on the uninsured (cash) price.

At the end of the episode, we give the annual cost of diabetes.

Wins & Fails

Colleen’s Win: I put my sensor on my inner forearm on Valentine’s Day, and it went really well!

What is the cost of type 1 diabetes without insurance in the United States? It depends, but bottom line, it's staggering.

Jessie’s Fail: She had a gut feeling on her lunch break that she had to check her truck’s oil. Lo-and-behold, it was low! It’s a win in disguise.

Tip of the Week

Look into assistance programs if you need help accessing insulin or other medical supplies essential to diabetes care.

Diabetes Spotlight

The spotlight this week is on the #insulin4all movement. Insulin is one of the most expensive liquids in the world.

#insulin4all is a campaign by T1International to unite the diabetes community to fight together for access to diabetes supplies, care, and treatment for everyone.
